A tractor for automatic picking of apples to be tested in New Zealand
The “Abundant” company, that specializes in robot manufacturing, joined forces with New Zealand’s “T & G Global” and created a tractor for automatic picking of apples, writes “Agro-Center”.
Design and development stage involved solving many tasks, including enabling the visual assessment of ripeness of fruit and safe movement across a plantation.
In the framework of a commercial agreement, the company intends to conduct a test fruit harvest on several apple plantations in New Zealand. In case of successful completion of the project, “T & G Global” intends to switch to an automated harvest process for all plantations.
