The number of farmers decreased significantly in Ukraine
In the last seven years, the number of farmers in Ukraine has decreased by 10 thousand. According to the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 70% of 43 thousand farms work illegally in Ukraine, writes “Agro-Center”.
“There is a huge problem with the development of cooperatives and farming in general. We have not reached the level of agricultural production in Ukraine that was in 1913. Then there was a completely different arrangement, the land was used differently by farmers who really cared about it and made good money,”
said Yaroslav Hazalo, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
According to Yuriy Lupenko, the director of the National Scientific Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics” of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, it is necessary to eliminate poverty in villages in order to bring people back to farming. Only this will provide people with work, economic growth, and good living conditions.
