A Pig That Weighs Like a Polar Bear was Raised in China
Recently, the cost of pork skyrocketed in China because of the ASF virus. This forced Chinese farmers to raise pigs with high weight, writes “Agro-Center”.
A farmer from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region raised an animal that weighs 750 kg. The district has long been engaged in pig breeding. The animals grow to weigh up to 500 kg. One can make $ 1400 on selling such a pig. It is three times the average monthly income in the province capital.
It should be noted that during the year, the ASF virus destroyed one-third of the pig population. As a result, wholesale meat prices increased by 70%. At the same time, pork stocks in August went down by 39% compared to last year. Because of this, farmers began to grow animals of giant sizes, as it allows them to make more money. The weight of some pigs is equal to the weight of a male polar bear.
