Ukrainians Developed a Machine That Plants 750 Seedlings Per Hour

The NAAS Horticulture Institute has developed a SPM-1T gardening machine that is efficient and requires only 1.4 class tractors, writes “Agro-Center” with a reference to “Sadivnytstvo po-ukrayinsky”.

The productivity of the machine is 750 seedlings/h, working speed – 2–2,5 km/h, the width of the seedling furrow – 16, depth – up to 35 cm, row spacing – 2,5–4 m, distance between trees in a row is 0,7– 2 m. It can be used for planting bush berries with a distance between plants in a row of not less than 0.7 m.

The new machine is equipped with a working body in the form of a coulter. It cuts and unfolds a layer of soil, lifting it to form a seed furrow, and after placing the seedling in it the machine places the soil in place without significant movement or rotation. With this method of planting, the conditions for the planting and development of seedlings are extremely favorable.
