Elk of Discord: A Hunter from Germany Demands 1,500 Euros for a Bad Hunting Trip

A hunter from Steinfurt demands compensation for a bad elk hunt near the city of Shklov through court, writes “Agro-Center”.

According to Die Welt, with reference to dpa, the man claimed the trophy was not as big as he expected. The hunter paid 3800 euros for the trip to Belarus, including 1500 euros as a prepayment for 6-kilogram horns.

The trial began on September 13, with a decision due on September 27. The judge stated that, according to the contract, the man had the right to shoot the elk. He was granted such a right, so the contract was executed, which makes his complaint unfounded. The hunter claims that he was unable to shoot the animal, so the hunting expert from Mönchengladbach, against whom the lawsuit is filed, has to pay back 1500 euros. The elk was small and if the man managed to shoot the animal, the tour operator would have to pay only 500 euros.

The defendant stated that the animal had been shot and found dead in a marshy area. The hunter was sent a package with his prey, but he refused to accept it, saying that the horns did not belong to “his” elk.
