Prices for Bread Will Grow in Ukraine
Oleksiy Doroshenko, an expert on economics, gave a comment for HolosUA in which he stated that prices from bread are rising again in Ukraine, writes “Agro-Center”.
“There is likely to be a record harvest of cereals and wheat this year in Ukraine. But the prices will not be affected. The world price of grain has increased, and we see that it goes up from 1% to 1.5% every month. The price for bread is quite high. Higher than in many Eastern European countries. For example, in Poland, bread prices are down by 30% in Lithuania – by 40%. In Ukraine, the price for rye bread increased by 25%, and the average price in major cities across the country at the beginning of September 2019 was 21.9 hryvnias per kilogram. Prices for white bread increased by 23%. The average price at the beginning of autumn was 19.2 UAH per kilogram. Prices for wheat bread made from premium flour increased by 22%. Prices for baton went up by 21%. On September 1, it was sold for an average of 14.1 hryvnias in Ukraine,”
said the expert.
Oleksiy also noted that despite this, rye bread remains cheaper in Ukraine than in Europe.
