A so-called “varenik Index” continues to steadily grow in Ukraine. At the moment, it has a record figure over the past two years, writes “Agro-Center”.
The varenik index measures the price per serving for an average Ukrainian. The indicator is based on prices in major supermarkets in Ukraine such as FOZZY, NOVUS, METRO, and ACHAN. A serving of vareniki will cost 39 hryvnias and 29 kopeks. In April of 2018, it was about 30 hryvnias.
The price of one serving of vareniki was calculated according to the following recipe: potatoes – 600 grams, wheat flour of the highest grade – 600 grams, eggs (І-ІІ category) – 3, butter (72-73%) – 60 grams, salo – 50 grams, sour cream (15%) – 60 grams.
