Ukraine might receive $ 200 million for the development of the agrarian sector
Ukraine expects to receive $ 200 million from the World Bank within the framework of the “Paying for the Result” program for the agricultural sector. For Ukraine, this may be the first such program in cooperation with the Bank, writes “Agro-Center”, with a reference to “Ukrinform”.
Correspondents of “Ukrinform” report that this was discussed during the meeting of Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Maxim Martynyuk with representatives of the World Bank before the opening of the largest agricultural exhibition “Green Week”.
“We discussed the new formatcalled “Paying for the result”, the program and results we want to achieve. According to the Bank’s estimates, we might receive $ 200 million from the World Bank,”
said a source.
It will be in a form of a loan provided directly to the Ministry of Finance. Funds will be allocated for the main agricultural sectors: land relations, food security, forestry.
At the moment, the structure of the program is being formed and agreed upon by all the authorities. The result should be known by February of 2019. The first advance financing is expected already in July. An amount of 20% of the general fund of the project is being discussed but the number might change after the meeting of the Board of Directors. The program is designed for three years.
For Ukraine, this will be the first such program within the framework of cooperation with the Bank. The World Bank has experience in other states. On average, eight countries participate in similar programs each year. These programs represent a middle ground between a loan and a donationannually.
