A state agricultural register will be created in Ukraine to help farmers

It is planned that, with the help of a state agrarian register, farmers who work on their own will be able to receive state support within the framework of agro-industrial complex state support programs, writes “Agro-Center”.

Nowadays, farmers who work on their own cannot use the help of state aid because most of them are not registered as entrepreneurs. Thus, according to Yuriy Appalkov, head of the Ukrainian State Fund for Support of Farmers of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the agrarian register will help to eliminate this problem and make more effective use of funds to support farmers.

“At the moment, proposals are being prepared for the draft law that states that a state agrarian register should be created in Ukraine. We hope that the key decision will be approved this year,”

said Yuriy Appalkov.

By the end of 2018, State Farmers Support Fund plans to receive about 2 thousand applications in the framework of the support program of newly established farms. Yuriy says that next year the fund will facilitate the communication of farmers and banks on lending money to agricultural producers.

“An agreement to approach the programs in a new way was previously reached with two banks – “PrivatBank” and “Ukrgasbank”. We hope that next year we will see a completely different program of lending money and cooperation with Ukrainian banks”,

said Yuriy Appalkov.

According to Viktor Sheremeta, deputy minister of agrarian policy, it is planned to increase the number of banks that will cooperate with farmers and provide them with state support loans.

“Previously, only four state-owned banks worked. Today, the resolution number 911 widens the circle to include banks that generally work with state funds in Ukraine. There are more than 30. This creates more opportunities for farmers,”

explained Victor.

Also, it is planned to launch a new project, an online consultation for farmers “Business Incubator”. The project aims to increase the economic and legal literacy of farmers.
