Agro Show 2018: Ukraine can become energy independent thanks to biofuel
The largest agricultural exhibition in Eastern Europe, Agro Show 2018, took place in Poland. Representatives of “Agro-Center” visited the exhibition. This year’s global trend is biofuel.
Agro Show celebrates 20 years in 2018. To honor this, 120 foreign companies, that represent about 750 showpieces, gathered in Poland.
From the first days of the exhibition, it became clear that the main trend in Europe is alternative types of fuel: ecofuel and biofuel.
For farmers, the best alternative to fuel is straw. A lot of equipment for pressing straw was presented at the exhibition. In particular, a piece of machinery that processes about 80 kg of straw in one hour with allowable straw humidity during compression at 28% was among the most popular exhibits. At present, it costs 45 thousand zlotys in Poland.
By using these technologies, Ukrainian farmers will be able to save money on expensive Russian fuel. Straw from grain crops can be processed into fuel pellets. The Bioenergy Association of Ukraine established that pellets from agrarian biomass can replace 27 million tons of conventional fuel annually in Ukraine.
