How many people in the world can Ukraine feed?

The President of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation told how many people worldwide Ukraine is capable of feeding on its own.

Comment: “Ukraine can feed at least half a billion people on the planet if we take the minimum consumption rates“, – said the president of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation Leonid Kozachenko.

Details: According to Kozachenko, such potential gives Ukraine its “weapon”, the one that even developed countries do not have.

He believes that being one of the five largest suppliers of agricultural products Ukraine should use it as a tool to influence global policy.

To achieve this goal, the country needs investments. There must also be effective state policy in the agricultural sector. According to Kozachenko, digitalization is good, but it should be based on professionalism.

Thus, it is necessary to provide support to agricultural enterprises, but state support should be differentiated.

Comment: “Large agricultural holdings cannot receive assistance that can be compared to that received by a small farmer“, – explained the expert.
