Record crops: Scientists have selected a new raspberry variety

A selection company from the Netherlands “Advanced Berry Breeding” has created a new raspberry variety – “Sarafina”. It has already been successfully tested in Spain, Tanzania, and Mexico, writes “Agro-Center” with a reference to “East-fruit”.

The “Sarafina” variety is remontant – its harvest can be collected twice during a season, in fall and in spring. Berries taste good, are strong, and easy to collect. Berries keep well and have good transportability. The new variety was tested in the Netherlands. It yields 2 kg/m2.

The “Sarafina” variety is suitable for cultivation not only in temperate climate but also in the hot Mediterranean and dry tropical areas because berries tolerate high temperatures well. It also makes the variety suitable for growing in greenhouses
