Poltava meat breed
A high-performance meat breed of white color. Derived by crossing different Ukrainian and foreign breeds. The weight of an adult female pig: 216-240 kg, male pig – 300-350 kg. Sow productivity: 10-11 piglets. Advantages: unpretentious to food, high fertility, excellent immunity.
Derived in England. Nowadays, are grown in the Foggy Albion, in the Russian Federation, and in Ukraine. The weight of an adult female pig: 215-230 kg, male pig: 290-320 kg. Sow productivity: 10-11 piglets. Advantages: high fertility and a strong constitution.
Derived in Denmark at the beginning of the 20th century as a result of the hybridization of Danish pigs from the English Large White. The weight of an adult female pig: 250 kg, male pig – about 300 kg. Sow productivity: 10 piglets. Advantages: accelerated protein synthesis.
Derived by Belgian breeders in the first half of the last century by crossing high-yielding pigs of meat breeds. Piétrain is popular in Western Europe and Russia. The weight of an adult female pig: 150-220 kg, male pig – 240-260 kg. Sow productivity: 8-10 piglets. Advantages: resistance to viral diseases and obesity, a good weight gain.
Derived in the northeastern part of the United States by crossing several breeds. As a result, Jersey (popular in New Jersey) and Duroc (popular in the state of New York) appeared. The breed was registered in 1883. The weight of an adult female pig: 240 kg, male pig – 320 kg. Sow productivity: 8-10 piglets. Advantages: unpretentiousness, resistance to stress, endurance, adaptability to living conditions.
