Wool Production in Ukraine Has Decreased by 10%

According to the State Statistics Service, wool production in Ukraine has decreased by 9.5%, to 1.3 million tons, during the period from January to August. The trend is observed in all categories of farms, writes “Agro-Center” with a reference to “Agrotimes”.

In particular, during the same period, enterprises produced 18% less wool (169 tons) than last year, and household farms produced 8.2% less (1.22 million tons). Almost 88% of the wool came from households.

During the eight months of 2019, the most wool was made in the Odessa region – 543 tons, which is 39% of the total production in Ukraine. Of these, enterprises account for only 45 tons.

The Zakarpattia (162 tons) and Mykolaiv regions (110 tons) came in second and third, respectively. Other regions are behind by a considerable margin.
