Purple tomatoes: Americans have invented a new hybrid tomato variety

A new tomato variety was called Purple Boy. It is the first violet hybrid tomato variety. The development belongs to the American company Seminis Vegetable Seeds, Inc, writes “Agro-Center”.

The new variety is unique, highly productive and semi-deterministic, has a pronounced taste and aroma. The fruit is slightly smaller than a common tomato.

“The new variety attracts buyers with its appearance and wonderful sweet taste. The variety has a high resistance to the tomato mosaic virus and fusarium rot of the roots, as well as wilt. The Purple Boy reduces the influence of these plant diseases during a growing season,”

said Adam Marshall, marketing manager at Seminis.

In order to create a new hybrid variety during the 2017-2018 period, nine studies were conducted and different hybrid varieties were tested. According to taste properties and potential yield, the Purple Boy variety was the best.
