16 Goats Became Political Prisoners in Ethiopia
In northern Ethiopia, officials have taken hostage 16 goats that belong to opposition politician Zenaui Asmelyash. The animals were taken from the field near the house where the Asmelyash lived, writes “Agro-Center”.
Goat thieves believe that their actions will force Zenaui Asmelyash to leave politics, reports milknews.ru.
It should be noted that Zenaui Asmelyash had already been threatened by officials of the ruling Tigray party and had previously been in prison. Recently, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front used the politician’s goats to get to him.
After the news appeared on social media, worried users started a campaign for freedom of the innocent “political prisoners”. The situation was considered quite serious as many considered the actions of the officials to be political intimidation.
It should be noted that three goats managed to escape and find their way home. However, 13 goats are still in captivity.
