Bald Chickens: Israeli Scientists Created a New Breed

The main reason for creating the new breed – chickens without feathers – is that it was difficult to breed common chickens in hot climates, writes “Agro-Center”.

More than 10,000 chickens die each year on farms because of high summer temperatures. Therefore, scientists have been looking for ways to develop a hybrid that is resistant to hot climates.

To create bald chickens, scientists combined completely featherless broilers and ordinary breeds.

Scientists say that the bald chickens inherited a quiet attitude from the Spanish ancestors, and are very patient and enduring. Chickens are not very active and can’t fly for physiological reasons.
