The EU mission will check Ukrainian pigs
The EU mission has arrived in Ukraine to see what measures are taken in regard to the ASF. The disease and its rapid spread are a real problem and a threat to Europe. Representatives of the EU mission believe that countries must join efforts to fight against ASF, writes “Agro-Center”.
The EU finances activities aimed to eliminate the disease. Therefore, the mission will need to check the work of the State Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise.
In addition to the use of funds, the representatives should also check the state of regional laboratories, pig farms, meat processing plants and hunting facilities. The mission will visit the farms in Poltava, Odesa, Rivne, Volyn and Lviv regions.
The EU experts will carry on their observations until October 4th. After the inspection is complete, they will create a report with the results.
Due to the rapid spread of ASF, some countries want to organize a mass killing of wild boars in the woods. Finland and Denmark have built fences on the border with Russia and Germany, respectively, to prevent the movement of infected wild boars.
