A Robot that May Take the Jobs from Mushroom Pickers Will Soon Appear on the Market
A Canadian company Salmon Arm Technology Brewing Corporation has received 50,000 dollars from a federal and provincial program in British Columbia to develop a robot capable of detecting, collecting, trimming, and putting mushrooms in boxes, writes “Agro-Center”.
Company founder Mike Boudreau built his first robot in 1985. So far, the company has been designing and selling robots that cut cheese, pack sandwiches, etc.
“The funding will allow us to start helping farmers improve harvesting through robotic automation. Thanks to a successful prototype, we will soon be able to test it on a real farm,”
said Mike Boudreau.
The project aimed to find ways to increase the efficiency, sustainability and competitiveness of agriculture, the food industry in British Columbia, and strengthen the province’s technology sector with global market access.
