“Over 750 kg”: A Giant Pig Was Raised in China
In China, a farmer grew a pig with a record weight of 750 kg.
“Agro-Center” tells more about it.
Commentary: “The average weight of a pig for slaughter in large-scale farms has increased to 140 kg, compared to 110 kg. This allows increasing profit by more than 30%. Large farms are focusing on increasing the mass by at least 14%,” said Lynn Goffa, senior analyst at Bric Agriculture Group.
Details: Chinese farmers started to feed pigs to an average weight of 175-200 kg, while the normal weight of the pig is 125 kg.
The reason for the change is high prices for pork. Wholesale prices for pork in China increased by more than 70% this year, while pork stocks fell by 39% in August of the previous year.
A 750-pound pig raised on a farm in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, became the record holder.
