Family from Berdyansk Created a Snail Farm and Grows Edible Snails
Marina Mostova and her husband live in Berdyansk. In 2018, they started a farm, where they have been growing snails according to classic French, Greek and Polish methods ever since, writes “Agro-Center” with a reference to Seeds.
“It is a new business for Ukraine. We have very few people involved in this and very little information, practical knowledge, so everything has to be learned through trial and error. Our eastern regions are drier, so we are developing our own snail farming methods,”
said Marina Mostova.
The snails grown on the farm are exported to European countries, most of all to Spain and Italy. Ukrainians can try the product at the farm.
“We serve snails with classic Burgundy and Mexican sauce. On our farm, people can taste the most expensive caviar in the world, which is even better than beluga caviar, as well as dishes made from snails’ liver,”
said the farmer.
In addition to growing and selling snails, the family plans to develop ecotourism. The farmers wish to develop the taste for shellfish delicacies in Ukrainians.
