Loch Tay: A new blackberry variety on the market
On their website, FruTek LLC presented a new blackberry variety called “Loch Tay”. It was added to the State Register of Plants of Ukraine. According to the information on the website, this variety was created at the Scottish Crop Research Institute, writes “Agro-Center” with a reference to EastFruit.
The new variety is one of the earliest blackberry varieties. It ripens 2-3 weeks earlier than the “Loch Ness” variety. It is also suitable for growing both in open ground and undercover (for example, in film greenhouses).
The only company in Ukraine today that has the right to grow and sell “Loch Tay” variety planting material is FruTec LLC. The variety is owned by the company James Hutton Limited.
Blackberries of the new variety have high yields and quality products. The berries have an average weight of 4.5-5.0 m.
