Lviv Region Might Be Left Without Turnips

In the Starosambirsky district, 1% of total area and 8-12% of turnip plants were found to be infected, writes “Agro-Center”.

According to the monitoring by the State Consumer Service, 3-15% of plants are damaged by the by Brevicoryne brassicae, commonly known as the cabbage aphid.

Mostly in the steppe and forest-steppe regions, 1-5 cabbage aphids per square meter damaged 2-15% of plants (Ivano-Frankivsk, Kiev, Cherkasy regions). Many other pests were also found in the crops. 10-35% of the areas of forest-steppe and woodland regions, and 3-8% of turnip plants suffer from peronosporosis, alternaria, powdery mildew, cylindrosporiosis, phomosis.

In order to prevent the spread of pests and diseases during the autumn period, a protective spraying of the crops with substances allowed in the “List” is carried out in accordance with the regulations.
