Ukraine’s grain harvest is better than Europe’s
Despite unstable weather conditions, Ukraine managed to collect a positive grain harvest, writes Agro-Center.
This season, bad weather conditions affected almost all European countries-grain producers. However, unfortunate weather conditions passed Ukraine by and allowed to keep our grain crops. It was stated by Maxim Martynyuk, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
“We have every reason to increase a general grain crop forecast for 2018/2019 marketing year to 63.1 million tons. The volume of wheat production this season is 24.2 million tons, which is quite sufficient both for domestic needs and foreign market demands,”
said Maxim Martynyuk.
According to him, the forecast for grain exports in 2018/2019 increased to 42 million tons. The estimated annual export volume of grain is 8 million tons of wheat and 8 million tons of forage.
At the moment, winter crops are being sown in Ukraine. 16% of winter cereals has been sown; in particular, 99% of turnip.
