Ukrainians Will Grow Paprika for India

Ukrainian company “Natur Svit” plans to grow paprika at the request of a company from India. In India, paprika is used to produce natural dyes used in the food industry, writes “Agro-Center”.

Growing paprika in Ukraine is a pilot project. Its implementation has already begun in 2019 in the southern region of the country. The project aimed to determine the effect of climatic conditions on the state of adult paprika plants, and their ability to develop a pigment color that is required for the production of the dye in India.

Manufacturers from the Kherson, Zaporizhia and Mykolayiv regions took part in the pilot project.

“Representatives of the Indian company grow peppers in China, but Chinese manufacturers use a lot of herbicides. India is looking for alternative places for growing paprika,”

said Irina Kuprijevic, Executive Director at LASKA Fund.

At the moment, the participants are waiting for the harvest and financial results. If economic benefits and reliability of the sale are real factors, the prospect of growing paprika will be considered.
