Scientists named the loudest animal on the planet
The sounds it makes can be compared to the roaring of a turbojet engine.
Agro-Center tells more about it.
Details: Oceanologists discovered that European lobster is the loudest animal on the planet. Scientists claim that the sound of their antennae can be heard or felt at a distance of almost three kilometers.
The researchers made the discovery by accident. They tested an underwater microphone system, which was developed to study acoustic signals of various marine invertebrates.
It turns out these animals can make very loud noises that can be compared to the roaring of a turbojet engine.
The source of the sound is the antennae, which lobsters rub against the chitin between their eyes. Scientists suggested that in this way lobsters can scare away predators or warn their relatives about the danger.
