Prices for onions increased threefold in Ukraine in one year

This summer the average price for onions was 9-15 hryvnias/kg (0.3-0.51 euro/kg). It is reported by Infos-Shuvar, writes the Agro-Center correspondent.

The highest price was at “Shuvar” wholesale market – 14-15 hryvnias/kg (0.47-0.51 euros/kg), while the cheapest onion could be purchased at the “Nezhdanny” market in the Kherson region – 9-10 hryvnias/kg (0,3-0,34 euros/kg). At the “Stolychny” market in Kyiv, the price raised from 9 to 11 hryvnias/kg (0.3-0.37 euros/kg).

According to analysts, farms in the southern regions offer onions at 9-10 hryvnias/kg (0.3-0.34 euros/kg), depending on size and quality. During the same period last year, the average price for onions in Ukraine was almost three times lower – 3-4 hryvnias/kg (0.1-0.13 euros/kg).
