An industrial almond farm near Kiev
The first industrial almond garden was created in the Kyiv region. The area of the garden is about 105 hectares. A farm uses Italian almond seedlings with a closed root system, writes “Agro-Center” with reference to “EastFruit”.
The planting of almonds was started in September 2018, and the last seedlings were planted at the beginning of June. The garden has a drip irrigation system and each sapling has a bearing. The layout for planting almonds is not specified, but it is already clear that it is intensive.
Experts from “EastFruit” have learned that the Italian company “Besana” is the partner of the project, and Italian experts in the field of nuts, specializing in almonds, hazelnuts, and walnuts, provide technical support.
“Besana” also actively works with Ukrainian hazelnut producers, promotes their seedlings on the market and offers technological support. Specialists of the company are also studying the potential of growing pistachios in the southern regions of Ukraine, especially in the Odesa and Kherson regions.
