The ASF: One out of five pigs in the world suffers from the dangerous virus

One out of five pigs in the world suffers from the ASF. Experts came to this conclusion after analyzing the spread of the ASF in China. Today, the country is a leader in terms of the number of pigs, writes “Agro-Center” with a reference to agroxxi.ru.

The ASF virus was detected in 30% of Chinese pig farms. The number of pigs in China decreased by 16.6% in February. Compared to January, the total number decreased by 5.4%, and the number of sows – by 5%.

Since last year, the ASF outbreaks have been detected in 28 Chinese provinces, from where the virus continued its journey to Mongolia and Vietnam.

It should be noted that recently, China made the largest purchase of pork in the past couple of years – 23, 8 thousand metric tons. It once again proves that the ASF has a serious impact on the pork market in the country.
