IT and strawberry: father and son created a compelling startup in Ukraine (PHOTOS, VIDEO)
Father and son from the Kiev region have created a startup that will allow them to grow strawberries all year round at home mini-farms. The father is an engineer; the son is a programmer. It was due to the use of IT technologies that the duo managed to maximize mini-farm’s automation, writes Agro-Center.
The UAberry startup plans to enter the European market soon. Volodymyr Petrenko, an engineer, began to create the mini-farm himself. As a result, a small greenhouse with an area of 3 square meters, automatic thermoregulation and watering appeared. In such mini-farm, it is possible to grow strawberries all year round. It cost 8 000, and during one cycle you can collect 66 kilograms of berries.
After some time, Volodymyr’s son Oleksiy joined the project. He wrote a program that manages the process of growing strawberries. Human participation in the process is minimal, and automated control reduces costs.
That is how UAberry startup was created. As a result, small farmers now have the opportunity to purchase a well thought-out mini-farm. Its width is about a meter, and the length can be changed for your territory. At the moment, father and son are working on the development of similar greenhouses for the cultivation of other berries.
