Cannibalistic Pigs: A farmer was charged with animal cruelty
In the UK, a farm owner was charged with animal cruelty, writes “Agro Center”.
The incident was reported by the Daily Mail. Back in 2015, inspectors from the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals visited the farm, which belonged to 61-year-old Susan Smith. There, they saw a horrifying picture: sheep, cows, and pigs covered in parasites roaming among the remains of hundreds of animals.
Animals were not given food and water. Sheep had open wounds through which the bones were visible. There were dead sheep and cows in the pantry. Eight pigs on the farm were eating another pig’s dead carcass.
The investigation took four years. The farm owner claimed that she could not take care of the animals because of her illness and a broken tractor.
Susan was found guilty last year but filed an appeal. And on November 4, she was sentenced to 18 months in prison. She was also forbidden to own animals.
