Profitable Business: A Farmer from Kyiv Region Started to Produce Wine
In the Kyiv region, Agricultural Cooperative “Agrobusiness” grows grapes on an area of 3 ha. The owner hopes his hobby will grow into a business, writes “Agro-Center”.
It is common knowledge that the Kyiv region doesn’t have perfect conditions for growing grapes. Grigory Kulinichenko tried 20 varieties of white grapes and 15 varieties of red grapes and chose those that ripen in the conditions of the region.
The farmer grows dessert grape varieties on 1,5 ha. The rest of the vineyard is used for growing wine varieties. The red varieties are mainly from the west and the white varieties come from the V. Tairov Institute of Viticulture.
Grigory shared that the implementation of the wine production project is coming to an end. In the future, he will produce 4-5 varieties of white wine, and 2-3 varieties of pink and red wine.
“Thanks to high-quality production, harvesting, and processing of grapes, we avoid using large amounts of preservatives. We harvest and pack grapes manually, which is valued in the West. I want to make good wine that people love,”
said the owner.
The first batches of Kulinichenko’s wine have already won a prize at the All-Ukrainian Tasting Competition in Odesa.
