The state will increase financial support for “young farmers”

During a meeting of the ministry’s representatives with young farm managers, Olga Trofimtseva said that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy intends to increase funding for young farmers, writes “Agro-Center”.

“In Ukraine, among the total number of farms, about 500 are managed by farmers under the age of 35. It is extremely important for us to support these young farmers, who, by their example, will inspire others to set up their agribusiness in villages,”

explained Olga Trofimtseva.

According to her, it is important for the Ministry of Agrarian Policy to hear specific questions and suggestions from farmers from all over Ukraine. What the ministry is doing today is not effective enough to improve the support of family farming, newly established farms, and young farmers.

“This year we have introduced a new separate direction for young farmers who are 35 years old or younger. So far, it is 40 thousand UAH, but in the long run, the amount may be increased up to 48 thousand UAH. It is important for us to make it attractive to people to work on their land and in their village,”

said Deputy Minister Viktor Sheremeta.

Experts believe that the support of “young farmers” by the state will stimulate the development of business in the countryside and will promote the development of rural areas.
