Banana Glued to a Wall with Tape Sold for $120,000
Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan bought a banana at a supermarket in Miami and glued it to a wall of the Perrotin Gallery in Paris. The author estimated the cost of his “masterpiece” at 120 thousand dollars, writes “Agro-Center”.
Surprisingly, the “masterpiece” found its buyer – a Frenchwoman who has been buying the works of Maurizio Cattelan for a while but did not he was the author. The exhibit was put up for auction, this time for 150 thousand dollars, but another buyer was not found. The artist said that if there is no buyer, the banana will go into the trash.
Despite the price of the “masterpiece”, the owner of the gallery is not worried that someone will steal it, as there are more bananas in the supermarket. Also, without a certificate of authenticity, it just a fruit.
