Hemp Chocolate Is Sold in Ukrainian Pharmacies

It is common knowledge that chocolate is not only delicious but also good for you. Olesya Solomina went further and started making chocolate with beneficial additives. The brand is called “Legal”. The products are sold exclusively in pharmacies, writes “Agro-Center” with a reference to SEEDS.

Olesya Solomina is the owner of the company, that makes chocolate according to unusual recipes. One type of chocolate they offer contains hemp seed extract.

“We started developing our product three years ago. We opened a company in the UK to have all the research conducted through an English company. A team from Ukraine, England and China worked on the recipes. Our chocolate is made using such sweeteners as lactulose and stevia.”

Olesya explains that such a formulation made it possible to obtain a product that stabilizes blood sugar levels even in people with diabetes, stabilizes blood pressure and eliminates toxins.

The recipe has been tested and modified for quite some time. For example, it took 1.5 years to find a perfect sweetener, and another 1.5 years to make chocolate that would be similar to chocolate made with white crystalline sugar by all chemical parameters.

“Then we decided to improve our chocolate with different functional additives. We made, for example, white chocolate with dehydrated beets, as well as chocolate with hemp seed extract and chlorella. Our chocolate contains a lot of “good” fats from chlorella and hemp seeds, and has a great vitamin profile.”

We didn’t plan to make chocolate with hemp. The idea came to us in the process.

“Adding hemp is how we improved the basic formula. One of the sweeteners we use in our chocolate – lactulose – helps absorb the right minerals and nutrients. Thus, the hemp we add to chocolate is better absorbed by the body.”

Olesya shared that her illness had motivated her to create healthy chocolate.

“I have an autoimmune disease and can’t eat about half the food that ordinary people can eat. I have followed a very strict diet all my life. I’m allergic to lactose and gluten. I understand how other people like me feel. Therefore, I wanted to make a product that people with gluten or lactose intolerance or even sugar intolerance would be able to eat.”

All production facilities are located in Ukraine. All raw materials are also purchased in Ukraine.

“We live in Ukraine and we are interested in creating workplaces here. We work with Ukrainian milk, berries, beets. In the future, we plan to develop our products in Ukraine. We have created 400 workplaces across Ukraine with this and our other businesses.”

Hemp chocolate is sold exclusively in pharmacies in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipro.
