Prices for Ukrainian tomatoes are falling because of cheap imports

Ukrainian greenhouse plants are forced to lower prices for tomatoes, writes Agro-Center.

According to the “Agroindustrial Complex: Inform”, farms are ready to ship tomatoes at 33-35 UAH/kg (1,04-1,10 €/kg), which is 13% cheaper than a week earlier.

According to the representatives of the factories, they have to lower the prices for several reasons. A negative trend provokes an increase in the supply of the products from greenhouses, while both domestic market sales and export sales slowed down significantly. Moreover, the pressure on local prices for tomatoes is due to the presence of cheaper imported products from Turkey on the market.

As a result of such adjustments, at the moment, Ukrainian farms offer greenhouse tomatoes 18-22% cheaper than during the same period last year.
